“ This past Sunday our family friends, Dr. Tan and Malou invited us to lunch. They suggested Sushishima Castle Hills. I've never been to this location but often frequented the Vineyard location. Willie was a familiar face as we've seen him in the Vineyard location. He was very attentive and took good care of us. We started with the Agedashi Tofu and Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. We all got the bento boxes for lunch and there was so much food. Enough for another meal! Malou had the Chicken Karaage bento box while the rest of us had the Sashimi bento box. Thank you, Dr. Tan and Malou for the lunch treat. ”
“ Good quantity of rolls for the price. The lunch bento box especially is a steal. It seems like a lot of military personnel visit this place, probably because their portions are large and the food is fresh. Service was good, they were super busy during lunch when we went. It's nicely decorated with LED lights and a well stocked bar. I tried their uni ice cream as well but I probably wouldn't get it again. ”
“ I LOVE THIS PLACE! my brother and i discovered this establishment about 4 years ago. he lives in louisiana and every time he's in town we have to make the hour drive to this restaurant. the service is always amazing and the food never lets us down! the inside of the restaurant is very modern and classy. it is average price for sushi and bbq style meals around san antonio. i will always be a returning customer for this restaurant. ”
“ First time and I enjoyed every second! The sushi was fresh and the ramen was rich, so tasty! Went during happy hour and had a great time. Recommend for couples or friends/family. ”
“ Really enjoy this spot! Usually we are seated right away. Love the vibes of the booth tables where it's a little darker. I've tried a few menu items but really feel like I've enjoyed the sushi rolls and fresh sashimi most. Their tonkatsu ramen is good, just not the best we've ever had. ”
“ Great food, great service. Huge menu to choose from, Large portions and reasonable prices. We have been here a few times and the flavor never disappoints. Always take home some leftovers and the service is personal and very good. Would highly recommend for sushi, bento box. ”
“ We came here after a bad experience at another sushi restaurant. This place was able to get us seated right away. The service was great! We had the fried pork dumplings as an appetizer along with the "beef soup" and the "gyoza soup". I also ordered 2 margaritas, the pineapple jalapeño and the matcha. They were both delicious! Their sushi rolls did not disappoint either, we had the "Robin Hood", "tasty", and "tiger eye". We will be back. Thank you for turning our night around! ”
“ We were at the brewery next door and stopped in to eat. We showed up in the last hour they were open but were greeted with great service. We also ordered the regular edamame and a bottle of red wine. Everything was super delicious we will definitely be back! ”
“ Yesterday, I went for my monthly luncheon with my fellow retired teachers. This year, I asked other people to choose all the venues for the year. Sushishima was the one selected for January. It was the first time in the seven years of our group getting together that we ventured into the realm of Japanese food. I was really excited to go there. Unfortunately, our group wasn't feeling it, and only three of us actually went. That was actually a good thing. We were able to talk and have a great visit in an almost private booth that could have comfortably held six of us. It wasn't until the second person joined me at the table that I realized this was the location of Taipei, a favorite Chinese restaurant of mine that I hadn't been to forever. It is totally different now and is very nice with a comfortable vibe. I really wasn't in the mood for sushi. Since I had never really eaten Japanese food much, I went with a bento box. To me, it seemed like a great sampler. You get several things in it including 2 gyoza, 2 harumaki (spring rolls), smoked squid salad, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, a mini kani salad, and four pieces of crab roll. I chose Dragon Beef for my main dish. It was listed as "spicy stir fried beef and chef choice vegetables. It, and everything else in the box was tasty. They weren't kidding about the spicy part. The service was perfect. They didn't hover and left us to chat for about two hours, coming over every few minutes to offer drink refills, etc. I also have to say that the bento box seemed like a great economical choice. I was completely stuffed when I left for under $20.00. That hasn't been true at very many places lately. I know I will be back to try some other things. I need to patch up the holes in my knowledge of Japanese Cuisine. ”
“ We came here on recommendation from a friend. They came too! So we had a mix of barbecue and sushi. It was great. The service was wonderful. The service came around refilling Waters and they brought enough tongs for each person. They were also conscientious about the number of plays we had, so they helped us configure and condense dishes in a sensible way. I really appreciated that they serve the meat on ice. This is Texas after all, and even in December, it can be hot. Just ask the ice rink at Travis park. :/ The restaurant is not fancy, but the food is high quality. I've noticed that in a lot of the sushi places around, the fish is bland. That's not the case here. There's care in preparation and the result is a tasty, but fresh sushi at the right temperature. Can't say enough great things about this place. No reservations needed and there's plenty of parking, especially in the evening. ”
